“A Curse Without Cause”

Believers, as we serve the One, True, and Living God, the Bible assures us that a curse without cause will not stand. This promise holds true provided we are walking submitted to God and have not given the enemy legal access through an open door.

“Like snow in summer and like rain in harvest,

So honor is not fitting for a [shortsighted] [a] fool.

Like the sparrow in her wandering, like the swallow in her flying,

So the curse without cause does not come and alight [on the undeserving].”

Proverbs 26:1-2 AMP

The Book of Proverbs extends universal wisdom through parables, poems, and couplets which are literary forms of comparisons and antithesis to create relatable scenarios for greater understanding to the believer. To know God is the key to wisdom. And we will come to know God through His Word which was written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Back to the message at hand, we should be cognizant of the enemy, his cohorts, and schemes. Yet we should fear not as we go through struggles based on biblical principles within biblical scripture as outlined:

“No weapon that is formed against you will succeed;

And every tongue that rises against you in judgment you will condemn.

This [peace, righteousness, security, and triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,

And this is their vindication from Me,” says the Lord.”

Isaiah 54:17 [AMP]

“Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;”

Psalm 91:5

In the Book of Numbers (Chapters 22-24 NIV) the sorcerer prophet Balaam was petitioned by the King Balak of Moab to curse the Israelites as he feared their size and their reputation. “This horde is going to lick up everything around us, as an ox licks up the grass of the field.” [Numbers 22:4] The Israelites had a reputation of conquering leaders and new lands under the Hand of God, and Balak sought preemptive assistance in dealing with them before they infiltrated his borders. He sent messengers to handsomely reward the sorcerer Balaam to place a curse on the approaching body of the Israelites: “A people has come out of Egypt; they cover the face of the land and have settled next to me…For I know that whoever you bless is blessed, and whoever you curse is cursed.” [Numbers 22:4-6]

In turn, Balaam wisely sought God for answers regarding the approaching people and was summarily warned by God to refrain from returning with Balak’s messengers. God further instructed Balaam not to curse whom He had blessed. I encourage you to read the full passage to gain greater understanding and to discover the unimaginable and constructive ways in which God speaks to us through warnings and even a donkey!

“Whom God bless, no man curse,” Bob Marley. Therefore, let naysayers and detractors work their already failed assignments in opposition to your God-ordained acts. I would call on you to lift them up in prayer for true repentance, divine salvation, and the anointed transformation of their minds in Jesus’ Name. When we understand who we are and Whose we are, unfounded words and baseless accusations lose their sting and power over our minds. Trust in God and what He says about you.
