Greetings to you!
The miraculous birth of Loose Your Purpose! inhaled its first breath through the abrupt ending of a season coupled with the promise of innumerable new beginnings!
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28 KJV
Seasons are a vital aspect of the human experience. Seasons are not to be feared for the unknown nor harbored with covetousness. Seasons of drought and excess are to be anticipated, not feared. Seasons in which there is great labor and those of rest will come in their set time. Seasons materialize where hearts are filled with joy and hope compared to those of grief and disruption. Seasons of perceived lack, as well, as those of exalted abundance will exist. There is purpose in every season!
As my paternal grandmother wisely informed me after the death of my only brother, and I was filled with immense sadness and confusion, she said: “Just keep on living!” In the fog of my grief, I could not wrap my mind around the depth of wisdom conveyed in those four words. I sincerely anticipated an entirely different response from my Nana. My heart longed to hear her say that this pain would somehow evaporate, decide to leave me one morning, and cease to ravage the entire family, but my Nana’s words did not offer that form of relief. My mind searched for meaning in what I had deemed senseless, yet my Nana’s words did not settle my fears. Over the many years of simply being, pressing through a myriad of circumstances, and holding on to God’s unchanging hand, my Nana’s words have gently bathed my consciousness and soothed my heart with greater revelations. Forasmuch as we may operate in a world with systems and processes which implement mechanisms to control outcomes, man actually controls very little.
The Word of God informs us that change is an inevitable and necessary part of life.
In the book of Daniel, Chapter 2:21: “ [God, Elohim] changes times and seasons; He deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.”
With the changing of seasons in our lives, we are encouraged to consider the importance of continuous forward progression. For the absence of growth or evolution is stagnation, complacency, and is akin to death!
Imagine if the groundbreaking invention of the telephone by Alexander G. Bell was the one and final iteration of telecommunication. I recall when I was growing up in the early 70’s that very few homes in my neighborhood had the luxury of a telephone. The telephone came in limited colors: a sage green, cafe au lit cream, mustard yellow, a soft pink, and jet black. It was rotary, weighed a ton, and was placed with reverence in a central location in the home. If there were an emergency on your street such as a fire, an illness, or an out-of-state relative requested contact, there would most assuredly be a knock at your door. Case in point: look at the evolution of the telephone in our present day! According to realclearscience.com: “The computing technology of the average cell phone far exceeds the combined computing power of the first two spacecraft that got humans to the moon and home safely.” The entire world has benefited immensely through the advancement of telephone communications within every facet of our lives. However, what if the season of telecommunications remained the same with no change, no interest in achieving more, no challenges to the current version, no desire for growth?
Seasons of change involve plucking up what is old, disruption of soil, planting new seed, nurturing and protection of tender shoots, and harvesting that which is ripe, yielding growth in either a positive or a negative crop. Whereas seasons of stagnation may yield false comfort, atrophy, and hard, infertile ground, if nurtured, I trust that by embracing a new perspective of seasons in our lives, we gain wisdom as the scales are removed from our eyes via enlightenment in the Word of God:
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens…,”: Ecclesiastes 3:1-11.
Taste and See
I urge you to open your Study Bible, pray to God for the illumination of His Words in your soul, and to continue reading Ecclesiastes 3: 1-11. Seasons are time bound with a beginning and an ending. When each season is embraced, prayerfully, the gifts of the season will be realized as each holds lessons amid challenges which stretch our capabilities, develop the Fruits of the Spirit within us, and transform our understanding of the voice of the One True God. Seasons should not be squandered!
With tremendous joy and grace my offer to you just as my Nana in her wisdom stated to me is: “Just keep on living!” and to seek Him right now while He may be found!
I give Almighty God all the praise and all the glory for the season which birthed in the set time for Loose Your Purpose!
Respectfully in love,
Tammy Boone Williams
